I've been running and training with Coach Armen for close to 20 years. We've run marathons together, including the 2004 Boston Marathon, with temperatures in the 80s in April. And many shorter races. He's been known as "Coach" among our running group since he began his day job at Trinity College. During racing season he plans and leads our track workouts. He's been great at designing workouts that push me slowly and reasonably toward my racing goals. Most recently he coached me to an age group win at a fairly competitive 5K. His recommendations are always based on solid training and conditioning techniques and he's been especially good at pulling me back from some of my more irrationally exuberant training ideas.
I have been working with Coach Chris for almost a year now, with a goal of getting my race times down (not an easy task as I am in my late 50s). Coach Chris has offered constructive advice and solid workout plans. He pushes you, but he is also cognizant that pushing too hard can lead to injuries. So far in 2019 I have seen great results. I have run 4 races this year that I also ran in 2018, and in each race this year my time has been faster than last year! I attribute this performance to the great advice and plans I have received from Coach Chris.
